Yakutia reports fourth highest in nationwide milk and egg production in the DFO sector
In the cold and remote region of Yakutia, located in the Far Eastern Federal District of Russia, a significant amount of livestock and poultry was slaughtered and produced between January and June 2025.
According to the latest available data, a total of 2,720.9 tons of livestock and poultry were slaughtered during this period. The majority of this came from reindeer, accounting for 308.6 tons, followed by cattle (KRS) at 328.5 tons, pigs at 38.0 tons, and horses at 147.8 tons. Poultry accounted for the largest share, with 1,893.0 tons slaughtered.
As of June 2025, Yakutia was home to 171,548 heads of reindeer, 197,801 heads of cattle, 227,704 heads of horses, and a substantial 937,750 heads of poultry. Agricultural organizations owned the majority of the reindeer and poultry, holding 95.5% and 90.4% respectively. Households and individual entrepreneurs, on the other hand, owned 42.9% of the horses and 57.9% of the cattle.
The production of milk in Yakutia during this period reached 54,100 tons. Furthermore, 78.6 million eggs were produced.
These figures place Yakutia fourth in the Far Eastern Federal District in terms of livestock production. However, as of now, there is no new information available about the ownership of livestock from July 2025 onwards.
