In the heart of Liguria, Italy, the Fugazzi family has breathed new life into an iconic liqueur, Amaro Fabbrizii. Originally created by Giovanni Fabbrizii in early 20th century Genoa, the liqueur gained popularity in his elegant Art Nouveau venue in Sestri Ponente, a neighbourhood in Genoa[1].

Fast forward a century, the Fugazzi family, once engineers, have transformed into spirits producers. They established a distillery in Rezzoaglio, Val d'Aveto, to produce Amaro Fabbrizii according to the original family recipe[1]. The distillery, Amaro Fabbrizii production, and sales space started operation in the summer of 2021[2].

The Fugazzi family's commitment to preserving the traditional recipe and using locally sourced botanicals has paid off. The Amaro Fabbrizii has been well-received, leading to its entry into the GDO, primarily with Coop, and a bit also with Conad and Gulliver[3].

The liqueur's success didn't stop there. The company also produced a gin, which, along with Amaro Fabbrizii, won first place in the most prestigious sector awards in both London and New York[4]. The Amaro Fabbrizii, in particular, was awarded the gold medal at the World Liqueur Awards 2025 in the bitter category[5].

The Fugazzi family's next venture is to bring another liqueur, Gin Rusagni, to the Fancy Food Show in New York[6]. With the success they've achieved so far, it's safe to say that the future looks bright for this family-run distillery.
