The 56th NAACP Image Awards, honoring Black excellence in entertainment, sports, media, and pop culture, takes place on Saturday night in Los Angeles. Hosted by comedy star Deon Cole, the event includes giving out special honors and naming winners in various categories. The theme this year is "Our Stories, Our Culture, Our Excellence."
Leading the music nominees with six nods is GloRilla, while Ayo Edebiri and Keke Palmer lead the individual nominees with four each. The movie adaptation of August Wilson’s legendary play, "The Piano Lesson," leads in the Motion Picture category, with "Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist" topping the TV votes.
Former Vice President Kamala Harris, comedy icon Dave Chappelle, and the Wayans Family are some of the honorees at this year’s ceremony. The 56th NAACP Image Awards air live beginning at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on CBS, with BET and BET HER also broadcasting and streaming it on Philo and FUBO.
