Bill Gates Vows to Speed up Philanthropy: No More Billionaire Status
Wealthy Tycoon, Bill Gates, Estimated to Exhaust Fortune Before Demise
In a shocking move, tech titan, Bill Gates, has declared to fast-track the distribution of his fortune through the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The world's biggest private foundation is now set to wrap up its mission by 2045 and donate an incredible $200 billion over the following two decades.
Microsoft co-creator, Bill Gates, is bent on using his colossal wealth on humanitarian and philanthropic causes at an unprecedented pace. Established 25 years ago alongside ex-wife Melinda, the Gates Foundation, stationed in Seattle, aims to hasten its mission to aid everyone live a healthy, productive life.
"Tackling the many pressing issues our world faces calls for using resources swiftly," Gates wrote. "By giving back to society faster than anticipated, I won't be remembered as a man who died a rich man." He intends to make virtually his entire fortune accessible through the Gates Foundation over the next 20 years.
Fueled by Reflection and Urgent Needs
This decision comes as Gates finds himself reflecting upon milestones—the 25th anniversary of the foundation, his father's centenary, Microsoft's 50th year, and his 70th birthday. Moreover, the foundation's board, with assent to alter its bylaws, has confirmed the changed timeframe, adjusting the organization's end date from Gates' demise to 2045.
Initially, the foundation had planned to dissolve 20 years post-Gates' death, with the donated funds surpassing the organization's current assets. The extra funds will be supplemented by Gates' personal resources over time. Since the foundation's inception 25 years ago, over $100 billion has been granted, with contributions significantly influenced by Warren Buffett's generosity. Over the subsequent 20 years, the donations are projected to double, depending on market conditions and inflation. By 2045, the foundation envisions spending over $200 billion, after which the foundation will cease operations.
