Vauxhall's Crossland X SUV revealed as successor to the 2017 Meriva model
The automotive industry is abuzz with anticipation as Vauxhall prepares to reveal its latest offering, the new Crossland X SUV, at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show. This model, set to take the spot previously held by the Meriva, marks a significant step forward for Vauxhall's SUV lineup.
First introduced almost four years ago, the Crossland X has undergone a facelift, dropping the 'X' moniker in its latest iteration. The new model will be positioned below the Mokka X in Vauxhall's range, offering more space and practicality compared to its predecessor.
Vauxhall's Managing Director, Rory Harvey, expressed his confidence in the Crossland X's success, anticipating each model (Crossland X and Mokka X) to have its own following. He believes that each model caters to a unique segment of the market, offering a diverse range of choices to potential customers.
The Crossland X's design is described as less aggressive and more like a Crossover/SUV take on the Vauxhall Adam. It boasts distinct SUV design touches, making it a stylish and practical choice for those seeking a compact SUV.
The new Crossland X SUV will share its platform with the next Citroen C3 Picasso and Peugeot 2008, all of which are expected to be built at GM's plant in Zaragoza, Spain. This collaborative effort is part of PSA Group's strategy to optimise production and share resources across its brands.
Order books for the recently facelifted Vauxhall Crossland Crossover are now open, with prices starting at £19,060 in the UK. As for the future, production of the Crossland X will be taken over by the company Stellantis, and production in Zaragoza, Spain, is expected to begin by the end of the decade.
In the lead-up to its public debut in Geneva next year, more information and teases about the Crossland X are expected to be released, further fueling the excitement surrounding this new addition to Vauxhall's SUV range. With its combination of style, space, and practicality, the new Crossland X SUV is sure to turn heads and attract a dedicated following.
