Two Convicted of Benefit Fraud: One Fined, One Imprisoned
Two individuals have been convicted of benefit fraud in separate cases, with a 40-year-old from Quakenbrück fined €1,500 and a 29-year-old from Löhne sentenced to six months imprisonment, suspended for three years.
The 40-year-old from Quakenbrück concealed his employment from the employment agency, causing a damage of around €760. The Main Customs Office Osnabrück discovered the fraud through data comparison and subsequent investigation, leading to a fine of €1,500.
In a separate case, a 29-year-old from Löhne was found to have unlawfully received around €600 in unemployment benefits after starting a new job in January 2024 without notifying his welfare provider. The local court of Vechta sentenced him to six months imprisonment, suspended for three years.
Both verdicts are final, with the Main Customs Office Osnabrück successfully investigating and leading to convictions in these two cases of benefit fraud.
