Train derailment in Belgorod region due to damaged tracks

In an unexpected turn of events, an explosion on the train tracks caused a disruption in the Prokhorovsky District on June 6. That's what Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov shared via Telegram in the morning hours.

"I was on a business trip, but my train only made it to Prokhorovka today. Passengers are now traveling by 'ETK' buses, which arrived at the Prokhorovka station after the railway tracks were blown up. Thankfully, no one was hurt," Gladkov reported.

The local leader emphasized that part of the railway track was damaged due to the blast. As a result, train movements were delayed by 2.5 hours. However, operations have since resumed according to schedule.

A repair team has been deployed to restore the damaged section of the track, added the head of Belgorod region.

According to "Kuban 24", train services were suspended in Voronezh on June 5 due to damage to the railway tracks [4].

It's worth noting that lately, several railway mishaps have occurred in Western Russia. Two bridge collapses, one in Bryansk and the other in Kursk, have caused multiple casualties and significant delays (details available here and here) [1][2][3]. While the Prokhorovsky District and Voronezh region have not been specifically mentioned in recent incidents, it’s essential to stay updated with local authorities or official news sources for the most accurate and timely information.

Russia’s Investigative Committee is treating these incidents as potential acts of terrorism, which may impact both the investigation process and any broader security measures implemented in Russian railway operations [1][2]. In light of the current circumstances, travelers are advised to exercise caution and stay informed.
