Toyota Recalls 393,000 Vehicles in US Over Rearview Camera Glitch
Toyota is set to recall over 393,000 vehicles in the US due to a software glitch that can cause the rearview camera display to malfunction when reversing. The recall, expected to begin on 16 November 2025, affects certain 2022-2025 Tundra and Tundra Hybrid models, as well as 2023-2025 Sequoia Hybrid vehicles.
The issue, first reported in 2022, results in screens displaying half-green, full-green, or black instead of showing the rear camera view. Toyota has identified that the multimedia display software in these vehicles may become unsynchronised due to abnormal noise during a camera view change. This can occur even before the vehicle's first sale. Dealers will update the software at no cost to owners, also including other software improvements. Owners are urged to return their vehicles to dealers for the free update.
Toyota's recent recall follows a previous announcement last month, where they and Hyundai recalled over 1.1 million vehicles due to various safety hazards. This latest recall aims to enhance rearward visibility and reduce the risk of collisions by fixing the rearview camera display issue.
