Title: FC Barcelona and Getafe's Line-Ups: Two Adjustments from Flick

FC Barcelona manager Hansi Flick is set to make two significant adjustments to his squad for their trip to Getafe in La Liga on Saturday.

Following a triumphant 5-2 victory over Real Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup final in Jeddah, the Catalans cemented their place in the Copa del Rey quarterfinals by netting five goals against Real Betis.

At his pre-match press conference, Flick acknowledged that scoring at the Coliseum can be taxing. He emphasized, "Historically, it's challenging to score there. We've discussed this, and we hope our strategy will succeed."

Barca edged Getafe 1-0 in their previous encounter at Montjuic, but Flick noted their struggle to find the net and establish a rhythm against Jose Bordalas' resilient team.

"We brought this up during our team meeting. The primary focus is to play our style of football," Flick affirmed.

Regarding potential rotations, Flick remained tight-lipped, stating, "For us, the next game is always our main priority. The future matches are important, but we always concentrate on the forthcoming ones."

Albeit reticent, Flick is certain to make alterations. Alejandro Balde will regain his position at left back, replacing Gerard Martin.

Given Wojciech Szczesny's suspension, Inaki Pena remains in goal after rejoining the squad in their 5-1 win over Real Betis.

The defense continues largely unchanged, with Jules Kounde staying at right back, while Ronald Araujo and Pau Cubarsi constitute the central partnership.

In midfield, Marc Casado teams up again with Pedri, displacing Frenkie de Jong, who Flick commended for his demonstrated skill against the Andalusians.

Dani Olmo is also ousted, as Gavi becomes the CAM, flanked by wingers Raphinha and the highly-regarded Lamine Yamal, with previously rested Robert Lewandowski manning the central number 9 spot.

Barcelona Probable XI vs. Getafe:

Pena; Balde, Araujo, Cubarsi, Kounde; Pedri, Casado; Raphinha, Gavi, Yamal; Lewandowski.

Predicted Lineups:

Getafe: Soria, Dakonam, Alderete, Duarte, Iglesias, Arambarri, Milla, Alena, Coba da Costa, Uche, Mayoral.

Barcelona: Pena, Balde, Araujo, Cubarsi, Kounde; Pedri, Casado, Gavi, Raphinha, Yamal, Lewandowski.

Key Changes and Notable Players:

  • Getafe: Due to suspensions and injuries, Rico and Rodriguez will be absent, and doubts exist regarding Yellu Santiago, Allan Nyom, and Berrocal's availability. Dakonam, Mayoral, and Alena may return to the lineup.
  • Barcelona: Bernal, ter Stegen, and Martinez are ruled out, but Andreas Christensen may recover. Oliver also has a chance to enter the picture, possibly as a substitute. Gavi might switch to the number 10 role.
  1. Flick mentioned the difficulty of scoring at Getafe's Coliseum, referencing their previous encounter against Jose Bordalas' team where Barca struggled to find a rhythm.
  2. For their trip to Getafe in La Liga, Flick announced Alejandro Balde's return at left back, replacing Gerard Martin, while Gavi takes over the CAM position, pushing out Dani Olmo.
  3. In the upcoming game against Getafe, Lamine Yamal, the highly-regarded winger, is set to feature on the right wing, alongside Raphinha on the left.
  4. Despite having faced Real Betis in the Copa del Rey and the Spanish Super Cup, Frenkie de Jong was displaced in midfield by Marc Casado, with De Jong receiving praise for his performance against the Andalusians.
