Thousands of Families in Yakutia Receive Financial Aid from the Children of the Century Program
In the Sakha Republic, or Yakutia, a significant number of families have benefited from the regional social support initiative known as the "Children of the Century" targeted capital program. Since the start of 2025, a total of 8,602 families have received funds from this program.
The program, primarily designed to provide financial assistance for child welfare, development, and improving living conditions, is typically aimed at families with children under a certain age. Priority is often given to low-income households, as well as to specific vulnerable groups in Yakutia, such as indigenous peoples.
The funds are distributed as direct one-time payments or capital grants, often managed through regional social services or family support agencies. Families commonly use the capital for children's education, health care, housing improvements, purchasing essential goods, or supporting child development activities.
In 2025, the payment amount for the "Children of the Century" targeted capital is 116,756 rubles. For large families, the total amount of the one-time payment for the birth of the fourth and subsequent children reaches 433,000 rubles.
The regional Ministry of Labor and Social Development announced the provision of the capital, and most often, the funds are used to improve housing conditions. In July alone, the capital was provided to 1,336 families.
The application process for the "Children of the Century" capital has been simplified, with the capital being proactively assigned based on birth records, without the need for personal application to social protection authorities.
Other purposes for the funds include payment for children's education, opening bank deposits, obtaining high-tech medical assistance, sanatorium-resort treatment, family vacation within the country, house gasification, and development of personal subsidiary farming.
To receive funds from the "Children of the Century" capital, parents must be Russian citizens with permanent registration in Yakutia.
