Tesla alters rewards for referral schemes in Canada and the United States
Tesla has made some significant adjustments to its referral program in the United States and Canada. The popular incentive of 1000 miles of free Supercharging for both referrers and new buyers has been discontinued.
In its place, the rewards for new Tesla owners in the U.S. now include a $400 discount for Tesla Solar Panel and Powerwall installations. Existing Tesla owners in the U.S. can earn $250 in Tesla Credits for each successful referral. New buyers in the U.S. also receive a free trial of Full Self-Driving (FSD) for 3 months when they use a referral link.
The exact rewards for referrers and new buyers in Canada are currently unclear. Some users are still seeing rewards of $325 in Tesla Credits, while others are seeing no benefits at all. The mobile app in Canada now shows "No Eligible Products" on the referrer tab for some users.
It's worth noting that the loyalty benefits for existing Tesla owners purchasing a new Tesla remain the same in the U.S., with a discount of either $650 for Model 3/Y, or a $1,300 discount on Model S/X and Cybertruck.
The new adjustments have resulted in a reduction or removal of the Tesla credits earned by existing owners in Canada and the U.S. However, the dynamic nature of Tesla's referral approach means that future updates are expected.
For those planning to buy a Tesla in the U.S. or Canada, it may be beneficial to check specific active referral codes linked to these benefits when ordering. The new benefit for all new Tesla owners, regardless of location, is a free trial of Full Self-Driving (FSD) for 3 months when they use a referral link.
