SWISS Launches Revolutionary C Series CS100 Flights in Q3 2016
Bombardier's C Series aircraft, a new contender in the short-haul market, is set to revolutionise travel with its range and performance advantages. SWISS, a leading European airline, is at the forefront of this innovation, having received its first CS100 aircraft and planning to launch passenger flights in the third quarter of 2016.
The C Series offers a significant advantage in range and short-field performance, enabling it to operate from airports like London City, which were previously inaccessible to larger aircraft. SWISS has configured its CS100s to seat 121 passengers in a two-class arrangement, optimising comfort and capacity.
The first CS100 flight, from Zurich to Paris on July 15, 2016, marked the beginning of a new era for SWISS. This aircraft will replace older Avro RJ100 models in the fleet, enhancing efficiency on shorter routes. Initial destinations for the CS100 include Paris, Manchester, Prague, and Budapest, with more to be announced in August and September.
Air Canada and Delta Air Lines are considering major orders of the C Series, indicating its potential in the market. SWISS has also switched ten of its CS100 orders to the larger CS300 variant, demonstrating its commitment to the C Series programme.
The introduction of the Bombardier C Series CS100 to SWISS' fleet is expected to bring enhanced efficiency, comfort, and connectivity to passengers. With its range and performance advantages, the C Series is poised to reshape the short-haul aviation landscape, and SWISS is leading the way.
