Fishing industries continue to receive support in Krasnoyarsk Krai, a region rich in waterways with over 300,000 rivers and lakes. Yet, production needs to be increased.

A discussion on elevating the fishing industry took place at the Congress Hall of SFU during an expert panel organized by the "Siberian Club," featuring officials from the Legislative Assembly, university presidents, government representatives, academics, and business leaders.

Alexander Uss, a senator from the Legislative Assembly, acknowledged the potential of the region and emphasized the need for careful stewardship of this natural resource, particularly in light of the growing tourism and sports fishing industries. He also highlighted the importance of adapting northern fish species for central and southern water bodies.

During the panel, concerns about specialist training were raised. Deputy of the Legislative Assembly and rector of the KralsGAU, Natalia Pyzhikova, presented a report entitled "Training Qualified Personnel for the Fishing Industry in Siberia."

Valery Vengo, the deputy head of the committee on rural affairs and agricultural politics, underscored the importance of fish farming in the region.

"There are already 12 fish farms operating in the region, with over 830 million rubles allocated from the regional budget over the past five years to support the industry," said the parliamentarian. "We need to increase the volume of production while maintaining affordability for local residents."

Despite the rich rivers and lakes in Krasnoyarsk Krai, the government has recognized the importance of investing in the industry's growth, modernizing equipment, improving aquaculture facilities, and promoting sustainable fishing practices. Moreover, specialist training is likely to be provided through vocational schools, fisheries institutes, or professional development programs initiated by regional committees or educational institutions.

However, for specific insights into the current support measures, budget allocations, and training programs applicable to Krasnoyarsk Krai, official regional government resources or fisheries department publications should be consulted.
