Airbus, the international aerospace giant, has been listed on some of the most significant stock exchanges worldwide since its shares were first offered on July 10, 2000. From the bustling streets of Paris, the lively city of Frankfurt, to the vibrant cities of Madrid, Bilbao, Barcelona, and Valencia in Spain, Airbus's presence is truly global.
The shares themselves are known as Bearer shares, and their Securities Code Number (ISIN Code) is NL0000235190. This merger frenzy began in July 2000, when EADS (stock exchange symbol EAD) burst onto the scene after a three-way merge between Aerospatiale Matra of France, DASA of Germany (DaimlerChrysler Aerospace AG excluding MTU Triebwerke), and CASA of Spain (Construcciones Aeronauticas SA).
Prior to the merger, Aerospatiale Matra was already listed on the Paris Stock Exchange. Upon merging, its shares got swapped on a one-to-one basis with new shares issued. EADS was later renamed Airbus Group in January 2014, and the change was followed by a name and symbol change. The listing name became Airbus Group, with the stock exchange symbol AIR. However, the ISIN and Euronext codes remained unchanged. In 2017, Airbus Group sea-saw-ed its name again to simply Airbus, keeping the stock exchange symbol, ISIN, and Euronext codes the same.
Airbus stands tall in some of the world's most influential stock indices, including:
- CAC 40 (France's primary stock market index)
- DAX 40 (Germany's key index)
- EURO STOXX 50
- STOXX Europe 600
- MSCI World
- FTSE All-World
- MSCI A&D
