Stellantis' American Leader Advances to Leadership Role within the Automaker
Stellantis Appoints Antonio Filosa as New CEO
Stellantis, the global automotive group that owns 14 brands including Jeep, Chrysler, Dodge, Fiat, and Peugeot, has appointed Antonio Filosa as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The appointment was made in a unanimous decision supported by the company’s board and is set to take effect on June 23, 2025 [1][3].
Filosa, a 52-year-old Italian, has a long-standing career within Stellantis. He previously served as the chief operating officer, Americas, and was responsible for initiating the strengthening of U.S. operations and expanding Jeep's global presence, including in Europe [2].
Before his promotion to the role of CEO, Filosa launched Jeep in Brazil, which quickly became the brand's leading market outside of the U.S. He also led Stellantis in both North and South America, taking the Fiat brand to the market-leading position and significantly growing the Peugeot, Citroën, Ram, and Jeep brands in South America during his leadership [1].
Under his leadership, Stellantis is focusing on strengthening its manufacturing and engineering capabilities, enhancing sustainability, and leveraging internal talent to drive industrial excellence and operational efficiency. Filosa has emphasized a "people-first mindset" and a strong understanding of Stellantis's brands and customers as key elements of his strategy [2].
The appointment comes as Stellantis grapples with overproduction and a lack of new models coming to market, which have largely been blamed for the collapse in profits. Filosa's mission is to restore Stellantis to profits and navigate the challenges of electrification, regulatory environments, and global market competition [4].
Some of the 14 brands marketed under the Stellantis banner may have to be cut or sold off as part of a strategic realignment and transformation under Filosa's leadership. The shareholder meeting to rubber-stamp the appointment is scheduled for the next few days [1].
Filosa’s rise from a plant-level quality supervisor earlier in his career to the CEO of one of the world’s largest automakers highlights his deep operational experience and knowledge of the automotive industry’s evolution toward digital innovation and sustainability [5].
Notably, the Jeep Avenger models continue to be best sellers for the company in Europe due to Filosa's efforts [2]. Stellantis shareholders have expressed strong confidence in Filosa's leadership, approving his appointment overwhelmingly with 99.2% of votes in favor [3].
