Southwestern University decides to purchase additional electric buses
37 New Electric Mercedes-Benz eCitaro Buses Set to Modernize Public Transportation in Ulm and Neu-Ulm
On July 18, 2025, at Ulm Town Hall Square in Germany, SWU Transportation GmbH, a division of City Works, officially signed a contract with Daimler Buses for the purchase of 37 new electric buses. The order includes 15 three-door eCitaro solo buses and 22 eCitaro G articulated buses, with an option for an additional nine buses planned for 2027.
The kick-off event for this major electric bus project was well-attended by high-ranking guests, including Till Oberwörder, CEO of Daimler Buses, Ralf Gummersbach, CEO of SWU Transportation GmbH, Klaus Eder, CEO of Stadtwerke Ulm Neu-Ulm GmbH, and the mayors of Ulm, Martin Ansbacher, and Neu-Ulm, Katrin Albsteiger.
The electric buses ordered are of the eCitaro type from Daimler Buses and will be used in the cities of Ulm and Neu-Ulm. This move is a significant step towards modernizing public transportation in the region and is a commitment to further expanding sustainable public transportation.
