Solingen City prolongs the water supply agreement with Haan municipality

In a significant move for the residents of Haan, the water supply partnership between Stadtwerke Solingen and Stadtwerke Haan has been extended until the end of 2046. This long-term agreement aims to ensure stability and reliability in water provision for the coming decades.

Under the terms of the renewed contract, Haan residents will continue to be supplied with high-quality drinking water from the Sengbach and Großer Dhünntalsperre reservoirs. The annual supply will amount to approximately 1.8 million cubic meters of drinking water.

The drinking water quality is maintained through the gentle management of the drinking water protection zone around the reservoirs and continuous monitoring of various water parameters by the employees of the Glüder waterworks and the accredited drinking water laboratory of Stadtwerke Solingen.

The soft water from these reservoirs, known for its low hardness, is processed through the Glüder and Dabringhausen waterworks before being distributed to Haan residents. This water, being particularly soft surface water with a low calcium content, is highly valued for its quality.

Leif Reitis, CEO of Stadtwerke Solingen, has confirmed the continuation of this successful and constructive collaboration. Grit Köhler, CEO of Stadtwerke Haan, expresses satisfaction with the stable and trustworthy partnership between Stadtwerke Haan and Solingen.

The long-standing cooperation with farmers around the Sengbach reservoir regarding land management and the use of seeds and fertilizers also contributes to drinking water protection. The water processing involves filters and modern technology in several stages to ensure the highest standards of drinking water quality.

Stadtwerke Solingen aims to maintain and improve their high-quality standards for drinking water from the Glüder waterworks through future investments. This partnership is not an advertisement, but a factual report about the extension of a water supply contract between two utility companies.
