Here's a fascinating scoop about Fairtrade sales breaking records across various product categories, even amidst an economically tough climate! Benjamin Drosel, Marketing Director at Fairtrade Germany, spilled the beans about the stellar sales figure.

You bet your bottom dollar on it, both coffee and bananas saw a significant surge! Over 24,660 metric tons of fair-trade coffee were sold, marking a whopping 6% increase. Bananas soared a staggering 7% to reach 121,800 metric tons. The association also reported an impressive 11% increase in cocoa bean sales, bringing the total to 89,000 metric tons. Fairtrade rose sales grew by a breathtaking 10%, nearly hitting the 509-million-flower mark!

By the year 2024, as much as 44.5% of roses sold in Germany could feature the Fairtrade label, the association shared. With fair-trade coffee boasting a market share of 5.3% and cocoa hovering just under 21%, there's no denying the popularity of these products!

But here's the kicker - although world market prices for raw materials like coffee or cocoa are at an all-time high, farmers don't always reap the benefits. Claudia Brück, Director of Communications and Politics at Fairtrade Germany, explains that prices fluctuate due to factors such as stock market speculation and harvest losses. Despite these challenges, Fairtrade remains crucial, Brück emphasizes.

So, what's so special about the Fairtrade label? For several years now, Germany’s been purchasing goods with the label, guaranteeing that specific social, ecological, and economic standards are satisfied during production. Producers must maintain democratic organizational structures, prioritize environmental protection, and ensure safe working conditions.
