Taiwanese Tech Giants Shine on 2025 Fortune Global 500 List
In the latest Fortune Global 500 list, released on July 29, 2025, Taiwanese companies made a significant impact, with six companies making the cut. The list, which ranks the world's largest companies by total revenue, saw Walmart retain its top position for the 12th consecutive year with a revenue of US$680.98 billion.
The highest-ranking Taiwanese firm on the list was Hon Hai Precision Industry Co. (Foxconn), which climbed to 28th place with a revenue of US$213.69 billion. Foxconn's strong performance was followed by Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC), which rose 60 places to reach No. 126 with US$90.16 billion in revenue.
CPC Corp., Wistron Corp., Pegatron Corp., and Quanta Computer Inc. also made the list, with CPC Corp. ranking at 494th, Wistron Corp. at 496th, Pegatron Corp. at 461st, and Quanta Computer Inc. at 348th.
The world's 500 largest companies generated a combined US$41.7 trillion in revenue in 2024, marking a 1.8 percent increase from the previous year. This combined revenue represents more than one-third of the world's GDP, underscoring the immense economic influence these companies wield.
Together, these companies employ 70.1 million people, further highlighting their significant impact on the global workforce. Notably, the list's top 10 companies alone generated over $370 billion in revenue.
The top 10 companies on the 2025 Fortune Global 500 list, besides Walmart and Foxconn, are State Grid (China), Saudi Aramco (Saudi Arabia), China National Petroleum (China), Sinopec (China), UnitedHealth Group (U.S.), Apple (U.S.), CVS Health (U.S.), and Berkshire Hathaway (U.S.).
Meta Platforms, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, also made an appearance on the list, ranking 41st, up 25 spots from the previous year.
