Hohenzollern Street and Hohenstaufen Street: Updates and Weekend Closure on A8 Motorway
🚧 Sewer Work on Hohenzollern Street
Beginning October 7, 2024, we've got some essential sewer network maintenance happening on Hohenzollern Street. The work zone will be located at the junction with Ispringer Street and Ispringer Staffel, where it'll take around eight weeks to wrap up. Rest assured, access to properties won't be affected, and through traffic will still flow in both directions, albeit with just one lane open.
🔒 Road Closure Details
No more left turns from Karl-Buhrer Street into Hohenzollern Street, folks! Right turns from Hohenzollern Street about town onto Karl-Buhrer Street will be the new norm. From Ispringer Street, only right turns into Hohenzollern Street are permitted.
The pedestrian crossing in the construction area will be shifted to the "Ispringer Staffel" bus stop, which will no longer be in service. Fret not! Head to the "Hauptfriedhof" bus stop roughly 150 meters away, which will accommodate line 731 headed towards Ispringen, Eisingen, and Königsbach.
🚧 Reconstruction on Hohenstaufen Street
As part of the redevelopment of Pfälzer Platz, Hohenstaufen Street will be stopped for through traffic at Pfälzer Platz. A detour will be set up, and parking spaces on and around Pfälzer Platz will no longer be accessible. The western part of Hohenstaufen Street will end as a dead end leading up to Pfälzer Platz.
Pfälzer Street and Salier Street will remain untouched in the initial construction phase. The Hohenstaufen Street closure is slated to last until the end of 2024.
🚧 Weekend A8 Motorway Closure
TransnetBW, the transmission grid operator, is tearing down safety nets under a new power line connecting Birkenfeld to Ötisheim, causing the A8 motorway to shut down between October 12 and 13, from 10 pm on Saturday to approximately 6 am on Sunday. During the closure, traffic will be rerouted via established detour routes:
- Drivers heading towards Karlsruhe will take the U26a and U28 from the Pforzheim-Süd junction, travel via Wurmberg, Wiernsheim, and Niefern-Öschelbronn onto the B10. The detour will then continue through Mühlacker and further via Ötisheim, Ölbronn-Dürrn, and the B294, returning to the motorway at Pforzheim-Nord.
- Those heading towards Stuttgart will exit at the Pforzheim-Ost junction and follow Eutinger Strasse (B19) towards the city center, then local signage to navigate around the closure.
🚧 Alternative Routes
For drivers coming from the west (Karlsruhe direction), it's advisable to use the Pforzheim-West exit and proceed on the B10 (Karlsruher Straße) towards the city center. From there, local roads can be followed to bypass the closed section of the motorway.
From the east (Stuttgart direction), leaving the motorway at the Pforzheim-Ost exit and driving via Eutinger Strasse (B19) towards the city center is recommended, followed by local signage to navigate around the closure.
🚧 Traffic Tips
Expect hefty traffic congestion in this area, especially on weekends, as the section is expected to face construction delays. Follow these recommendations to make your travel smoother:
- A8 between Pforzheim-Süd and Pforzheim-North will be closed during weekends due to construction.
- Use Pforzheim-West exit and B10 from Karlsruhe side.
- Use Pforzheim-Ost exit and B19 from Stuttgart side.
- Plan for increased travel time and traffic jams in this area.
In light of the ongoing construction on Hohenzollern Street, businesses in the automotive industry might need to consider alternative routes for transporting goods, as the one-lane restriction may affect delivery schedules. Meanwhile, investors in the finance sector should be aware of the potential impact on local businesses due to the ongoing disruptions on the A8 Motorway, which could influence their investment decisions regarding the transportation sector.
