Deutsche Bank Strengthens Compliance Leadership with Simone Kaempfer's Appointment
Deutsche Bank has announced that Simone Kaempfer, a renowned expert in commercial law and compliance, will be joining the bank as its new General Counsel, effective September 15, 2025. Kaempfer, currently one of the most senior partners at Freshfields, will also become a member of the Group Management Committee, succeeding Friederike Rotsch who is leaving the bank.
Kaempfer brings extensive experience to Deutsche Bank, having led Freshfields' White-Collar Defence practice in Continental Europe. She is a former public prosecutor and is widely recognized as one of Germany's foremost experts in commercial law and compliance. With a deep understanding of regulatory matters, governance, and investigations, Kaempfer is well-equipped to support Deutsche Bank's long-term growth.
Ralph Nash, who previously held senior risk, compliance, and anti-financial crime roles at HSBC, has been appointed as the successor to Nita Patel, who is leaving Deutsche Bank for personal reasons. Nash, who joined Deutsche Bank in May as Head of AFC EMEA and Global Head of Regions and Standards, will be based in Frankfurt and report directly to Laura Padovani, member of the Management Board and Chief Compliance & Anti-Financial Crime Officer.
Laura Padovani expressed gratitude towards Nita Patel for her dedication and achievements at Deutsche Bank. Padovani stated that Ralph Nash is a well-respected risk management leader who can deliver lasting change in global organizations.
Simone Kaempfer's appointment is part of Deutsche Bank's efforts to strengthen legal leadership and further evolve the Legal department. Friederike Rotsch, the previous General Counsel of Deutsche Bank, has decided to leave the bank to pursue new opportunities. Rotsch made a significant contribution to Deutsche Bank during her tenure.
In addition to her role at Deutsche Bank, Simone Kaempfer serves on the board of the investment firm Droege Group. Deutsche Bank is ready to strengthen its compliance leadership with Kaempfer's appointment.
