Significant rerouting of city buses within Münster's downtown area
Münster, Germany - Residents and visitors are advised to be aware of bus detours in the city centre on July 19, 2025, due to planned demonstrations. The following changes will affect various bus lines, including lines 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 11, 12, 14, 15, 16, 17, and night buses N80 and N81.
The modified routes will be in place from morning until late evening. Passengers are encouraged to plan their journeys accordingly and expect disruptions and delays. A map of the altered routes can be found on the Stadtwerke Münster website at www.stadtwerke-muenster.de/demo-innenstadt.
Line N82 will use Umgehungsstraße and Wolbecker Straße between Düesbergweg and Eisenbahnstraße stations. Line N84 will follow a new route between Bremer Platz/Servatiiplatz and Geiststraße stations, using Eisenbahnstraße, Bült, Münzstraße, Schlossplatz, and Stadtgraben. Line N85 will have a new route between Hansaring and Eisenbahnstraße, using Hansaring and Wolbecker Straße; trips from Halle Münsterland will start and end at Bült. Line N83 will also have an altered route between Bismarckallee/Scharnhorststraße and Zumsandestraße stations, using Stadtgraben, Schlossplatz, Münzstraße, and Bült.
For those using S-Bahn services, Line S70 will start and end at Technologiepark, with continued travel possible with line 9 towards Schlossplatz. Short-term changes to the detours may occur due to changing demonstration areas. The city centre, main station, and Ludgeriplatz will be inaccessible by bus on July 19 due to demonstrations. Night buses will be affected until the lifting of the closure around 10 PM.
It's important to note that a seamless transfer between all buses is not possible due to the night buses not serving Hauptbahnhof. Passengers are advised to plan waiting times between transfers at Bült.
The Federal Police will monitor Münster Central Station with strong forces on July 19, 2025, which could lead to temporary disruptions and closures. Glass bottles can still be purchased in Münster Central Station, but must be exited immediately. A prohibition of carrying dangerous objects and glass bottles in Münster Central Station is in place due to the demonstrations. Violations may result in a fine, penalty, or criminal proceedings.

The detours in the city's transportation system will affect not only buses, but possibly services in the finance industry, as some businesses might experience reduced profits due to the disrupted travel. Meanwhile, the modified routes for lines N82, N84, N85, and N83 in the public transportation sector, could potentially impact the industry's operational efficiency.
