Siemens Wins $75M Jordan Power Deals: New Plant, Upgrade Boost Capacity
Siemens has secured two significant contracts with Metka S.A., valued at approximately 75 million, for power generation projects in Jordan. The deals involve delivering a GT13E2 gas turbine and associated spares for a new fast-track simple cycle power plant in Zarqa, and supplying steam-tail add-on technology to convert the existing Samra III plant to a combined cycle operation.
The new power plant in Zarqa, set to commence commercial operation in June 2013, will add 146 MW to the Jordanian grid. The GT13E2 gas turbine, chosen for its suitability in harsh climates, is widely used in the Middle East and North Africa. Siemens' extensive experience in adding steam tails to gas turbines, demonstrated in projects like Riyadh PP12 and Az-Zour, ensures the success of this venture.
The second contract focuses on the Samra III plant. By installing Siemens' steam-tail add-on technology, the plant's power generation capacity will increase by an additional 143 MW. This upgrade, slated for completion in 2015, will significantly enhance the plant's efficiency.
Siemens' contracts with Metka S.A. will not only boost Jordan's power generation capacity but also demonstrate the company's commitment to the region's energy sector. The GT13E2 gas turbine and steam-tail add-on technology will contribute to Jordan's energy needs and reinforce Siemens' reputation for reliable, efficient power solutions.
