Seoul Global Center's Welcoming Week Empowers International Students with Housing Guide

Seoul Global Center's Welcoming Week program, held from October 2 at Seoul Startup Hub in Mapo District, provided a wealth of resources for international students. Among the sessions was a Housing Guide, where Nam Ki-tae, an expert in Korea's home rental system, shared insights on contracts, fraud prevention, and rights in housing matters.

Nam Ki-tae, a seasoned professional, delved into the intricacies of Korea's unique home rental system. He explained contract concepts, civil law, and property registration to empower international students with the knowledge they need to navigate the housing landscape. His talk comes at a time when more than half of Seoul residents are homeowners, indicating a significant rental market.

In the major university neighborhoods, while maintenance fees for studio apartments have risen, monthly rents have surprisingly dropped. This shift in the market dynamics was another topic of interest during the session. The Housing Guide was just one of the many offerings during the Welcoming Week program. International students also benefited from mock job interviews, employment counseling, networking sessions, and special lectures.

Nam Ki-tae's expert advice during the Housing Guide session equipped international students with crucial knowledge about Korea's home rental system. As the city's rental market evolves, with maintenance fees rising and rents dropping in university neighborhoods, understanding one's rights and responsibilities in housing matters is more important than ever. The Seoul Global Center's Welcoming Week program, with its varied offerings, continues to support international students as they navigate life in Seoul.
