Scottish Building Society Welcomes Graeme Hartop as New Director
Scottish Building Society has welcomed Graeme Hartop as a new non-executive director. Hartop brings a wealth of experience in financial services, joining the board following the retirement of long-serving members Shelia Gunn and Andrew Lee.
Hartop's appointment comes after a distinguished career spanning three decades. Most recently, he served as chief executive of Hampden Bank from 2013 to 2024. Prior to this, he held senior leadership roles at Scottish Widows Bank plc, including chief executive, deputy managing director, and finance and operations director. Currently, Hartop serves as chair of Leuchie House, a national respite charity, and vice president of Edinburgh Academical Rugby Club.
Welcoming Hartop, Ian Wilson, chair of Scottish Building Society, praised his financial services experience and commitment to the mutual ethos of the society. Hartop's appointment is expected to strengthen the board's ability to support the society's plans for growth, sustainability, and continued delivery of value for members. Hartop himself looks forward to working with the board and management team to focus on the society's future growth and success.
The society recognizes the invaluable contributions of Shelia Gunn and Andrew Lee, whose time, energy, and commitment as board members have been greatly appreciated. With Hartop's appointment, the society continues to build a strong board with diverse skills and experience, positioning itself for future success.
