Sanjay Khanna Steps into the Hot Seat as BPCL's New Chief
Sanjay Khanna assumes temporary role as Chairman and Managing Director of BPCL
Sanjay Khanna, with his impressive background in refinery operations and technical services, is the new man in charge at Bharat Petroleum Corporation (BPCL). Following the retirement of Krishnakumar Gopalan, Khanna has stepped up as Chairman and Managing Director, already buzzing with experience as a Director (Refineries).
Khanna is no stranger to the refineries, having overseen Kochi and Mumbai Refineries as their head, and played a pivotal role in commissioning new process units for the corporation. He's also served as the Executive Director at Kochi Refinery, paving the way for BPCL's first 'Niche Petrochemical' project - the Propylene Derivative Petrochemical Project (PDPP).
Khanna's educational background includes a Chemical Engineering degree from the National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirapalli, and a Postgraduate degree in Finance Management from Mumbai University. His extensive knowledge and expertise have earned him valuable positions on the boards of Bharat Petro Resources and Ratnagiri Refinery and Petrochemicals. Moreover, he presides as the chairperson of the 'Technical Committee for Petroleum Refineries' under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas.
Meanwhile, Raj Kumar Dubey takes on the additional role of Director (Marketing) at BPCL, who previously held the position of Director (HR) on the board.
As for BPCL's most recent financial performance, the company reported an 8% decrease in profit during the fourth quarter. Despite this, refining margins improved substantially, going over $4/bbl. The corporation also declared a final dividend of Rs 5 per share.
It will be intriguing to see how Sanjay Khanna, in his new capacity as CMD, will utilize his skills and experiences to steer BPCL towards growth and success in the upcoming quarters.
