A devastating fire and explosion rocked a gunpowder factory in the village of Lesnoye, Shilovsky District, Ryazan Region, Russia on August 15, 2025. The incident, which occurred around 11:00 AM, has resulted in a significant loss of life and injuries.

According to various reports from regional authorities and Telegram channels Baza and Mash, at least 20 to 24 workers have lost their lives in the tragedy, with over 130 injured. The exact number of fatalities is still uncertain, with some reports suggesting up to 24 deaths.

The fire broke out in a workshop at the factory producing gunpowder and exploded, causing extensive casualties and damage. The official operational headquarters of Ryazan Region has confirmed the number of casualties as at least 20 dead and 134 injured.
