Russian Energy Minister Tours South, Praises Regional Cooperation on Winter Prep and Power Projects
Russian Minister of Energy Sergei Civilev recently held crucial meetings in Anapa and Simferopol to discuss energy preparations for the upcoming autumn-winter period. The minister was joined by regional officials to tackle key issues such as generation modernization, fuel supply, and energy storage facilities.
In Anapa, Civilev met with Krasnodar Krai administration representatives, including First Vice-Governor Igor Galitsyn and Acting Deputy Governor Yevgeny Pergun. They discussed preparations for the colder months, as well as plans to modernize power generation and ensure a stable fuel supply. The minister also held a similar meeting in Simferopol to assess the readiness of electricity and housing services in the Southern Federal District.
Civilev's visit comes amidst significant developments in the region's energy landscape. A 250 MW energy storage system project is underway in Krasnodar, with modules set to connect to substations in Elizavetinskaya and the Eastern Industrial Zone. Additionally, plans are afoot to expand the Krasnodar TPP, launch a new power unit at the Sochi TPP, and construct a new TPP in the Dinskoy District. Looking ahead, the Udarny TPP, with a capacity of 560 MW, is scheduled for operation in 2024, followed by the commencement of additional power units in 2025. The minister praised the intensive collaboration with regional colleagues, deeming it effective and efficient.
Civilev's meetings underscore the Russian government's commitment to ensuring energy security and reliability in the region. With several major projects in the pipeline, including the Udarny TPP and the 250 MW energy storage system, the region is poised for significant enhancements in its power infrastructure. The minister's positive assessment of regional cooperation signals a productive path forward in achieving these energy goals.
