Robeco designates a new top investment officer
Robeco, a leading global asset manager, has announced the appointment of Anton Eser as its new Chief Investment Officer (CIO), effective September 1, 2025. Eser will be taking over from Mark van der Kroft, who is set to retire on October 1, 2025, after a 25-year tenure at Robeco.
Karin van Baardwijk, CEO at Robeco, expressed her excitement about Eser's appointment, acknowledging his fresh perspectives and the valuable contributions he is expected to make to Robeco's investment platform and drive continued growth.
Eser brings a distinguished career spanning over 25 years in global financial markets with a focus on fixed income and multi-asset investment management. Before joining Robeco, he served as CIO at 10X Investments, a fast-growing fintech firm specialising in multi-asset solutions for the South African market.
Eser's career highlights include his role as CIO at Legal & General Investment Management (LGIM), where he played a pivotal role in transforming LGIM from a UK-focused firm into a global asset manager with over USD 1.5 trillion assets under management. He led a large investment team spanning Index, Active Fixed Income, Global Equities, and Multi-Asset Solutions. Eser was also instrumental in integrating ESG factors into investment strategies and in developing the Future World fund range at LGIM.
At LGIM, Eser oversaw a team of 350 investment professionals and helped launch the flagship Future World fund range. His deep expertise aligns with Robeco's strategic ambitions, particularly in expanding its emerging market offerings.
Anton Eser holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting and economics from the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa. His leadership track record in managing large teams, launching and growing global credit and fixed income businesses, advancing ESG integration, and developing multi-asset investment solutions will undoubtedly be an asset to Robeco.
