Ried im Innkreis Station to Undergo €96.9M Transformation
Ried im Innkreis station is set for a major transformation, with a joint investment of around 96.9 million euros from ÖBB, the province of Upper Austria, and the municipality. The renovation is part of the broader modernization of the Innkreisbahn, with electrification work starting in spring 2026.
The project includes comprehensive technical improvements, such as a new station building and a parking deck with 100 Park & Ride spaces. Two level crossings will be replaced with cycle and pedestrian underpasses and lifts, enhancing safety and accessibility standards.
The station will be modernized and made attractive, ready to handle growing rail traffic between 2025 and 2029. ÖBB will ensure reliable mobility during construction, using rail replacement traffic. Five new signal boxes will be built, integrating the station and Innkreisbahn into the operations control center in Linz for improved operations.
The renovation of Ried im Innkreis station is expected to last until 2029, with most work taking place during operation. However, there will be restrictions on rail operations during semester breaks in 2026 and summer holidays in 2027 and 2028. This significant investment aims to enhance the station's facilities, safety, and accessibility standards, while also improving rail operations and services.
