New City Bus Routes Introduced in Yakutsk

UPDATE: November 18th marks the debut of the revamped city bus routes in Yakutsk!

Here's the lowdown on the changes to the 10 city bus routes that have undergone overhauls and the two brand-new routes hitting the streets.

New Routes

  • Route No.11: Inaugurated on October 14, 2024, this new route terminates at ul. Geodezistov in Prigorodny and the Rechevaya School on Pokrovsky Trakt. Route No.11 serves under-served areas like ul. Ptitsevod and provides easy access to social facilities like Polyclinic No.3 and the Medcenter, with transfers available at the Gimein stop. Currently, the route operates on two schedules with an interval of up to 1.5 hours, with plans to enhance frequency.
  • Route No.12: Planned for launch, this circular route will connect "Borisovka-1" with a combination of routes No.15 and No.25, covering areas previously served by these routes. Advantages include quick integration for Novoportovsky Quarter residents and coverage of social facilities like MBOU School No.18, Special Correctional School-Intermediate No.34, preschool educational institutions on Ilymensky Street, Children's Center "Aikhyl" on Kalandarishvili Street, MBOU School No.31, SVFU, MBOU School No.17, and Lenin Prospect.

Updated Routes

  • Route No.2: Changes are seen on Haliturina Street, with the route launched to cater to resident demands for bus traffic in this area. Future plans include expanding bus service to the entire length of Haliturina Street to Stroiteley Street.
  • Route No.4: The scheme of this route alters in the section moving along Ordzhonikidze Street, exiting from Lenin Prospect to unload Lenin Prospect and cover more population in the city center.
  • Route No.5: Part of the movement from the Medcenter along Krasilnikov Street, further along Mikhail Nikolaev Prospect and the Prometei microdistrict, and along its existing route changes. The remaining road section along the Sergeleyakhskoe Highway will be served by routes No.100, 17, 35, 41.
  • Route No 6: Changes involve buses entering Ulitsa Tri Sosny instead of the final stop at "Borisovka-1" as route No.12 will now serve this microdistrict. Additionally, the route will partially change to operate on Ulitsa Pyarkova, exiting onto Ulitsa Kirava until Poliklinika No.1. A minor adjustment sees buses traveling both ways on Ulitsa Chiryaeva instead of routes taking left turns at congested intersections during peak hours.
  • Route No 7: Changes its route scheme by operating on the Sergeляhskoe Highway, creating a looped route that provides residents of the Ptitsefabrika microdistrict an alternative way to reach the Medtsentr area. Residents will have the option to quickly reach this area and their polyclinic on route No.7, with new Volgobus buses available.
  • Route No14: Changes its final stop in the Pticzafabrika district (office) to the final stop on Ulitsa Voinskaya. The aim is to eventually serve the new Zvezdy district once its road network is established. The movement along Prospekt Lenina will change with buses now traveling along Ulitsa Yaroslavskogo, then onto Ulitsa Chernyshevskogo, Ulitsa Chiryayeva, and continuing along its existing route to cover facilities like the City Court and M.O.B.U. School No2.
  • Route No16: Alters its route scheme, no longer heading from Ulitsa Voinskaya towards Prospekt M. Nikolaeva and Ulitsa Krasilnikova to the Sayarsky district, but instead returning from Ulitsa Voinskaya along Ulitsa I. Kul'bertinova, continuing along the Sergeleykshoe Shosse to the Gimein stop near the Medtsentr. Residents of the Pticzafabrika district will now have an alternative for traveling back to the Sayarsky district by bus, considering the low traffic on Sergeleykshoe Shosse and the absence of traffic lights.
  • Route No19: Changes its route scheme by covering the entire length of Kalandarishvili Street, particularly the stretch from Belinsky Street to Lenin Prospect, where no city route previously operated. Residents will have transport access to this stretch of Kalandarishvili Street. The remaining parts of Belinsky and Petrovsky Streets, previously served by the route, will be covered by routes No7 and the new route No12. Additionally, the route will change its course on Kalytsina Street, with buses now traveling to Pyrogova Street and exiting onto Petr Alekseev Street, then continuing along the existing route.
  • Route No35: Will only change its route scheme to create a loop with terminal stops at "KIT Store" on Rikharda Zorge Street. This year, capital repairs were completed on Rechnikov Street, leading to Babushkina Street, then Khrzhizhanovskogo Street, which will reduce route intervals. Residents of the Industrial District will now have transport access to the new Khrzhizhanovskogo Street, where no bus previously operated.

These developments will improve bus communications, introduce new transport access, and offer an alternative or stable urban route in 10 districts of the city.
