Revised Babolat Pure Drive Generation 11 Racket Enhances Sensation and Adjustable Potency

When the 11th edition of Babolat's renowned Pure Drive series debuts on January 16, it introduces a novel tactic for sensation, all while permitting users to tailor their force across the six-racket series.

This globally best-selling racket franchise, now in its 2025 iteration, concentrates on enhancing sensation without compromising power for the Pure Drive Generation 11.

Babolat aimed to enhance the experience for less skilled players by creating a novel plastic component that affixes to the frame's yoke, specifically for the lightweight models in the collection. This addition is intended to boost energy return in the racket, resulting in more power. At the other end of the spectrum, the Pure Drive 98 now features a 16x20 string pattern and a squared beam at 10 o'clock and 2 o'clock within the hoop to provide more stability and precision for players already generating significant force.

"Thanks to this new generation of Pure Drive, we create an evolutionary level of power, enabling every player to find the ideal frame depending on their playing style," Babolat tennis products manager Olivier Carlier explains to me. "The bonus is that the string pattern is the same between the Pure Drive 100 and the lighter models, so if players using the Pure Drive 100 wish to experiment with 'extra' power, they can attach the new plastic piece to their Pure Drive 100 as well."

Inspired by player feedback, Babolat sought to incorporate a revised version of its dampening technology to "deliver the appropriate level of feedback in the hand, as well as to provide a more robust and louder sound when you strike the ball," Carlier explains, all aimed at improving the natural feel at impact.

Babolat collaborated with their engineers to enhance their NF2 technology, a system of unidirectionally aligned natural flax fibers embedded into the frame to filter vibrations for improved sensation and increased comfort. "We have achieved a flawless level of interaction between the hand and the racket handle," Carlier says. "It was vital for us to remain faithful to the Pure Drive DNA, while still being able to provide a stronger and louder sound at impact, resulting in a genuine sensation of power."

Subsequent testing resulted in engineers deciding that the unidirectional fibers provide enough mechanical strength to filter vibration without altering the frame's flexibility, allowing the Pure Drive Gen 11 to retain the natural power generated by its elliptic beam.

The Pure Drive Gen 11 series includes the 100, Lite, 107, Team, Drive+, and 98 variations. Each sports a fresh design to signify the new generation of frame.

"We are rather thrilled about this metallic blue we developed," Carlier says. "It is incredibly modern and truly stands out on the court. We aimed to create a shade of blue that players hadn't seen before, one that would appeal to both men and women. Our goal was achieved with this design, which conveys high performance and technicality, showcasing details like the reflective decals on the racket head and the addition of red foil in the racket heart to emphasize even more power."
