Haune Bridge Construction to Begin in Burghaun
Starting August 12, Hessen Mobil will commence construction work on the Haune Bridge in Burghaun. The project aims to ensure traffic safety and repair damage to the bridge, with an estimated completion by late 2025.
The construction will take place along Landesstraße 3433, and to protect workers and road users, the work will be done under a half-lane closure of the Landesstraße. The sidewalk in the construction area will be closed, but the access ramp and the stairs to the railway tracks will remain open at all times.
The construction work will be carried out in several phases:
- Preparation Phase: Initial works including site setup, traffic management planning, and preliminary inspections.
- Demolition/Removal Phase: Dismantling the existing bridge components that need replacement.
- Construction Phase: Erecting the new bridge structure, including foundation work, installation of beams, and deck construction.
- Finishing Phase: Final touches like paving, installation of guardrails, lighting, and signage.
- Inspection and Opening: Final inspections to ensure safety compliance before reopening the bridge to traffic.
During the work, the bridge will be closed to through traffic or limited to one lane with alternating traffic controlled by signals or temporary signals. Heavy vehicles may be prohibited or rerouted in some phases, and reduced speed limits will be enforced near the construction site to ensure safety. Local residents or emergency services might have controlled or prioritized access during certain times.
Cracks in the roadway will be sealed during the construction, and the repair work is expected to be completed by the end of September. The "Burghaun Bridge" bus stop will be suspended for the duration of the work, but passengers can use the "Burghaun Market Square" bus stop, which is approximately 450 meters away.

Joints on the bridge will be renewed, and the concrete in the bridge cap area needs to be repaired. The "Burghaun Bridge" bus stop closure is temporary and related to the Haune Bridge construction work. The repair work is expected to be completed by late 2025, subject to weather conditions and supply chain factors. Regular updates are usually provided by Hessen Mobil as the work progresses.
