Haven't heard the latest scoop on Omsk lately? Well, buckle up! The city's buzzing with some fun news. On Friday, May 2, 2025, Governor Vitaly Hozenco spilled the beans about a significant investment in local passenger transportation.
He said, "This move is gonna beef up the stability of our municipal routes," shedding light on the motivation behind this move.
According to the decision, the 167 million ruble budget allocation for 2025 will be used to cover municipal transport expenses across 31 districts in the Omsk region. City administrations such as Bolsherechensky, Isilkulsky, Kalachinsky, Kormilovsky, Nazyevsky, Sargatsky, Tavrichesky, Tevrizsky, Tuyaklin-sky, and Cherlaksky will also receive funding.
As a refresher, back in April 1, 2025, the Transport Committee of Omsk Region approved a maximum fare for inter-city transport rides at 3.04 rubles per kilometer beyond Omsk city limits. Since 2016, this fare has been set at 2 rubles per kilometer.
Regional transport officials clarified that the fare hike was necessitated by the need to maintain transport service stability and quality on inter-city routes, as well as the rising expenses on fuel, parts, and maintenance.
