Regionetz Kicks Off Major District Heating Expansion in City

Regionetz is set to embark on a significant expansion of the district heating network in the city, with a new line to be constructed between Adenauerallee and Sittarder Straße. This project aims to connect existing isolated networks, improving efficiency and reliability. The work is scheduled to commence on October 27 and is expected to take approximately 38 months.

The project will be carried out in phases. Phase 1, starting at the end of 2025 and concluding mid-2026, will lay a new water transport line and renew house connections and cables along Lintertstraße and Adenauerallee. Phase 2, from 2026 to the end of 2027, will continue from Goldberg Street towards Schopenhauerstraße, laying and modernizing district heating lines, water pipes, and other lines.

Phase 3, scheduled for 2027 to the end of 2028, will begin at Drei-Rosen-Straße, running via Thiensweg and Adenauerallee into Lintertstraße. This phase will see the permanent installation of the district heating pipeline, coordinated with Straßen.NRW to minimize disturbance and avoid repeated construction. Throughout the project, Regionetz will ensure the supply of gas, electricity, water, and telephone services is maintained.

Regionetz will provide regular updates and communicate directly with the public through on-site construction managers, information letters, press releases, and their website, www.regionetz.de. Michael Hüsselmann, the responsible construction manager, aims to keep disruptions for residents and traffic to a minimum. The project is expected to be completed by late 2028, providing a more robust and efficient district heating network for the city.
