Regional Tech Booster Launches to Drive UK Growth and Diversity
The Regional Tech Booster programme has been launched to stimulate tech growth and economic opportunities across the UK. The initiative, backed by a £1 million government fund, will run pilots until 2026, each supporting at least 30 tech businesses over six months. Tech for Growth Minister, Kanishka Narayan MP, has expressed the programme's aim to 'catalyse our tech brilliance to boost economic growth and opportunities for communities nationwide'.
The Regional Tech Booster will fund 12 local projects, offering early-stage businesses targeted training, expert mentoring, networking opportunities, and support to scale. Some projects focus on boosting diversity by supporting underrepresented founders. One such project is the Game Space initiative in Scotland, which supports early-stage gaming startups to promote game-defining startups in the gaming sector.
The programme aims to boost founders and tech ecosystems across the UK, with initiatives spanning Scotland, Wales, Lancashire, Sheffield, Suffolk, Northern Ireland, Brighton, and the North East and West Midlands. The £1 million government programme is specifically designed to support tech startups and scaleups outside London.
The Regional Tech Booster programme is set to deliver measurable local impact by supporting tech businesses across the UK. With a focus on diversity and regional growth, the initiative is expected to catalyse tech brilliance, boost economic growth, and create opportunities for communities nationwide.
