Redemption of Bank Notes and Coins for 80th Anniversary of Victory Affirmed by National Bank

The National Bank of the Republic of Belarus has recently issued a series of commemorative currency items to mark the 80th anniversary of the Soviet people's victory in the Great Patriotic War. Among these are a Br120 banknote, Br20 silver coin, and Br1 copper-nickel coin.

The Br120 banknote, a testament to the nation's proud history, features intricate artwork, including national symbols, historical landmarks, and portraits related to the occasion. The banknote boasts advanced security features such as watermarks, security threads, and holograms, and its design is aligned with Belarusian heritage, with dominant colors and design motifs reflecting the country's rich culture. The banknote, which has a traditional rectangular shape measuring 150×70 mm, is available in a quantity of 80,000 and remains a legal tender, making it usable for payments.

On one side of the banknote, the "Courage" monument of Brest Fortress and the "Motherland" sculpture are depicted, while on the other side, a female hand holding a child's hand against a national pattern, along with a photo of the "Minsk Gates" architectural complex and an apple blossom with flying storks to the right, can be found. The National Bank encourages citizens to buy the Br80 banknote as a souvenir or gift.

The Br20 silver coin, primarily made of silver, showcases detailed engravings relevant to the commemorated event or person, often including the national emblem, dates, and inscriptions in Belarusian. The coin, which has a polished finish and may have a limited mintage number, has a face value of Br20. However, its collector or metal value can significantly exceed this. The coin has been struck by the Kazakh Mint and has a mintage of 2,500.

The smaller Br1 copper-nickel coin, with a mintage of 5,000, features commemorative designs on its obverse or reverse sides, incorporating symbols or images representing Belarusian culture or history. The coin costs Br1, with its collectible value depending on demand. It is round with a raised edge on both sides and a notched side surface, and has also been struck by the Kazakh Mint.

After the start of sales, there were reports of Belarusians queuing in kilometer-long lines to acquire these commemorative items, with some willing to wait overnight. The silver and copper-nickel coins, both available in limited quantities, are almost entirely sold out. For precise imagery, detailed descriptions, and current market prices, checking the National Bank of Belarus official publications or reputable coin and banknote collector sources is recommended.

The manufacturing industry in Belarus has been active in producing commemorative items to mark the 80th anniversary of the Soviet people's victory in the Great Patriotic War, including a Br120 banknote, which, like the Br20 silver coin and Br1 copper-nickel coin, have seen high demand in the banking-and-insurance sector due to their collector value exceeding their face value. These items, with their advanced security features, intricate artwork, and connections to Belarusian heritage, are stimulating interest among both citizens and collectors alike.
