RBB Challenges the Decision Made

In a significant move, the Supervisory Board of Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg (RBB) has announced its intention to appeal parts of a ruling by the Berlin Regional Court in its ongoing legal dispute with its former Director, Patricia Schlesinger.

The decision, made at a meeting on August 5th, 2022, comes in the wake of the termination of the "Digital Media House" project late last year. This project, a significant point of contention in the legal dispute, was a part of the complex that is now being separated from the ongoing proceedings by the Regional Court.

The Regional Court's decision does not affect RBB's demand for compensation for the terminated project, which amounts to over 12.9 million euros plus interest. The Supervisory Board, specifically Chairman Wolfgang Krüger, stated that it aims to reclaim the costs of the Digital Media House project from Schlesinger.

The Supervisory Board also expressed its desire to have the Higher Regional Court confirm Schlesinger's personal liability for her decisions regarding bonus payments and ARD subsidy. The Regional Court's decision does not affect this aim, nor does it change RBB's aim to prevent financial damage to contributors and RBB.

The aim of the appeal is to prevent financial damage to contributors and RBB, as the termination of the Digital Media House project has resulted in significant financial losses. The project was intended to be a key component in RBB's digital strategy, and its abrupt termination has caused disruption and financial strain.

As the legal dispute continues, it is important to note that no definitive updates on the court rulings or the dispute's status are available at this time. For the most accurate and up-to-date information, we recommend consulting recent German news sources specializing in media and legal affairs or official statements from RBB or relevant courts.
