Raytheon's ADVEW Prototype Passes Key Review, Enhances F/A-18E/F Super Hornet's Defense

Raytheon, a subsidiary of RTX, has successfully completed a key review of its Advanced Electronic Warfare (ADVEW) prototype for the US Navy's F/A‐18E/F Super Hornet. The prototype aligns with the government's reference architecture and is designed to enhance the aircraft's defensive capabilities and survivability.

The review, conducted by Raytheon, validated the progress of the ADVEW prototype's software development. This includes its integration with flight-representative hardware and other essential self-protect subsystems. Raytheon has also completed a Test Plan Working Group to coordinate and streamline the prototype's in-flight performance evaluation.

Raytheon is on track to meet the US Navy's accelerated fielding timeline, thanks to its fast-paced schedule. In the coming months, the company plans to conduct further demonstrations and deliver shipsets for government-run integration testing. This will take place at a government facility next month to evaluate the Air Defense Vehicle Environmental Warfare (ADVEW) system's performance.

Raytheon's ADVEW prototype, which is designed to replace current electronic warfare systems on the F/A‐18E/F Super Hornet, has shown significant progress in both hardware and software. According to Dan Theisen, president of advanced products and solutions at Raytheon, the prototype improves the aircraft's ability to detect and counter electronic threats. With the successful review and upcoming tests, the ADVEW system is on track to bolster the F/A‐18E/F Super Hornet's defensive capabilities.
