Rapid Rail Journey: Two New Vande Bharat Trains Set to Launch in Rajasthan in a Week - LearnDeparture Times, Destination Paths

The Indian Railways is set to introduce two new Vande Bharat Express trains, linking Jodhpur and Bikaner with Delhi Cantt. This announcement comes after the successful launch of Rajasthan's first Vande Bharat Express train, flagged off by Prime Minister Modi on April 12, 2023.

These new services are expected to significantly reduce travel time on the respective routes. The train running from Ajmer to Delhi Cantt also marks itself as the world's first semi-high speed passenger train on high rise overhead electric (OHE) territory. The Vande Bharat trains, with a design speed of 180 kmph, are currently operating at a maximum speed of 160 kmph due to track limitations.

A new variant of Vande Bharat trains, a sleeper train, is in the works. The first prototype is expected to roll out in September 2024. Trials for this new sleeper Vande Bharat train have already reached 180 kmph in January 2025, indicating that the full speed potential of these trains may soon be realised.

The new services are expected to be a significant upgrade from the current Rajdhani trains on long-distance routes, as the new Vande Bharat trains will eventually replace them.

The train departing from Bikaner is tentatively scheduled to leave at 5.45 am and arrive at Delhi Cantt at 11.50 am. The train returning from Delhi Cantt is tentatively scheduled to start at 15.10 hours and reach Jodhpur at 23.15 hours. The train departing from Jodhpur is tentatively scheduled to leave at 5.30 am and reach Delhi Cantt at 1.30 pm.

Currently, 4 pairs of Vande Bharat Express trains are operational in Rajasthan. However, no official word has been given on the exact inauguration dates for the new services, although several reports suggest it will be on September 25.

A new rule requires Aadhaar for the first 15 minutes of IRCTC ticket booking from October 1. Passengers are advised to ensure they have their Aadhaar card ready for booking their tickets for the new Vande Bharat Express trains.

It's important to note that the full speed potential of Vande Bharat trains is restricted by the existing railway network, which requires substantial upgrades to accommodate consistently higher speeds. The Indian Railways is working towards modernising the network to fully utilise the capabilities of the Vande Bharat trains.

In conclusion, the introduction of the new Vande Bharat Express trains is a significant step towards modernising India's railway system. These trains are expected to provide a more comfortable and efficient travel experience for passengers, while also contributing to the reduction of travel time on long-distance routes.
