Purchase Iberia Avios with a 50% boost offer, valid until August 8th.
American Express Membership Rewards transfers may take several days to complete, but the process is worth it when you can purchase up to 200,000 Avios in a calendar year with a 50% bonus. This offer was available until August 8, 2025, and, unfortunately, has now expired.
The promotion allowed you to find value by combining and redeeming Avios across various programs, including Aer Lingus, British Airways, Finnair, and Qatar Airways. Iberia, the Spanish airline, is part of this greater Avios programme.
To take advantage of this offer, you needed to have at least 1 Avios in your Iberia Club Avios account. The minimum purchase to qualify for the 50% bonus was 2,000 Avios, with a maximum purchase limit of 100,000 Avios per transaction (150,000 including bonus). The annual purchase limit was set at 200,000 Avios per Iberia Plus member.
If you were to maximize this bonus offer and purchase 100,000 Avios, you'd end up with 150,000 Avios for a total of $2,315. This means you're using approximately $963 worth of miles to pay for a flight that retails for almost $5,100 - a fantastic deal!
For example, you can book a one-way flight in business class on Finnair's excellent Airbus A350 between Seattle (SEA) and Helsinki (HEL) for just 62,500 Avios plus taxes and fees of $148.
Using Iberia Avios, you can also book Iberia's business-class flights from the U.S. to Europe starting at 40,500 Avios per person each way.
Small amounts of Chase Ultimate Rewards points can be transferred immediately to fill an empty Iberia Club Avios account. And, even though the 50% bonus promotion has ended, you can easily transfer and combine any Avios you purchase into any of these accounts.
