According to SPORT, there's a possibility that Paris Saint-Germain could acquire Dani Olmo from FC Barcelona for free, as suggested by an RMC Sport report, both of which relied on unnamed sources.

News broke that a Barcelona judge denied the registration of Barca stars Olmo and Pau Victor, as reported by SPORT and Mundo Deportivo.

Prior to the season, the only two summer signings for Barcelona were Pau Victor, costing approximately $2.6 million (€2.5 million) from Girona, and Olmo, who transferred from RB Leipzig for around $62.5 million (€60 million).

The Catalan team exploited a unique loophole caused by long-term injuries to central defenders Andreas Christensen and Ronald Araujo to register Olmo, which only allowed him to debut on Matchday 3 against Rayo Vallecano.

However, this was just a temporary solution, as the deadline for registration was swiftly approaching on December 31. Hence, both Olmo and Pau Victor need to be registered again to continue participating in the 2024/2025 season under manager Hansi Flick.

On Friday, Judge Ignacio Fernandez de Senespleda, head of Barcelona's Commercial Court 10, refused to grant a precautionary measure to register the forwards, compelling Barca to file a new lawsuit against La Liga on December 30.

Barca intends to file this lawsuit at "a Court of First Instance" with the hope of obtaining a favorable precautionary measure, allowing Olmo and Pau Victor to remain in the Blaugrana squad.

Although SPORT notes that resolving this issue favorably is becoming increasingly difficult, Olmo has a clause in his contract that empowers him to leave Barcelona for free during the January transfer window if his situation remains unresolved.

This could potentially lead to PSG's interest, with Gregory Paisley of RMC Sport asserting that Olmo would be a good fit for the Parc des Princes and would work well under his former Spain coach, Luis Enrique.

Thus far, PSG has not made any formal overtures towards Olmo's camp, but it is anticipated that they might do so if his situation isn't resolved in the immediate future.

Losing Olmo to PSG would represent yet another major blow to Barcelona by the French Ligue 1 giants, following the departures of Neymar, Lionel Messi, and Ousmane Dembele to the French capital from their Catalan counterpart in recent years.

  1. Given Olmo's contract clause, if his situation at Barcelona remains unresolved, he could depart for Paris Saint-Germain during the January transfer window, as suggested by RMC Sport's Gregory Paisley.
  2. PSG's interest in Dani Olmo could be fueled by the potential to reinforce their attack with a player who previously played under their coach, Luis Enrique, during his time at RB Leipzig.
  3. The possibility of Paris Saint-Germain acquiring Dani Olmo from Barcelona for free is under consideration, following a report from RMC Sport, which relies on unnamed sources, similar to the one published by SPORT.
  4. In light of the judge's denial to register Dani Olmo and Pau Victor, and the impending deadline, Paris Saint-Germain might consider making a formal bid for Olmo if his future at Barcelona remains uncertain.
