Prominent individual who secured over £300 million in funding now partners with Space Forge
Space Forge, a pioneering in-space manufacturing firm, has made a significant move by appointing Travis Scott as its chair. Based in Cardiff, United Kingdom, and with a subsidiary in Delaware, United States, Space Forge is set to accelerate towards its goal of becoming the world leader in on-orbit manufacturing.
Travis Scott, the founder of Pragmatic Semiconductor, brings a wealth of experience to Space Forge. Over the past decade, he has led Pragmatic Semiconductor and has also been active in nine other startups spanning various industries. His expertise extends beyond just semiconductors, as he currently chairs boards in robotics, quantum computing, and space technology.
Scott's appointment comes at an exciting time for Space Forge. In June 2025, the company successfully launched its ForgeStar-1 satellite, marking the UK's first license for in-space manufacturing. The satellite, still currently active, is demonstrating Space Forge's capability to manufacture advanced materials in microgravity.
With Travis Scott at the helm, Space Forge is expanding its operations, moving from proof-of-concept to sustained, scalable materials manufacturing in orbit. The company aims to deliver breakthroughs in semiconductor material production, addressing the global demand for ultra-high quality substrates. These breakthroughs are intended to underpin next-generation technologies in quantum computing, telecommunications, and advanced electronics.
Joshua Western, CEO & co-founder of Space Forge, expressed his excitement about Scott's insight into semiconductors and growth capital. He stated, "Scott's insight into semiconductors and growth capital is pivotal as we move from proving our technology in orbit to delivering materials at industrial scale."
In preparation for a Series B financing round, Space Forge has also appointed Hannah Goldberg as its CEO. Goldberg brings a wealth of experience in leading high-growth technology companies, making her an ideal choice to lead Space Forge as it continues to grow and expand.
Space Forge claims to be the world's first dedicated materials production business in space. Its goal is to transform industries worldwide by creating advanced semiconductors and substrates impossible to make on Earth. With Travis Scott at the helm, the company is well-positioned to achieve its ambitious goals and become a global leader in on-orbit manufacturing.
In addition to his role at Space Forge, Scott is also an advisor to two venture capital funds and a member of the UK Government's Semiconductor Advisory Panel. His involvement in various aspects of the tech industry is a testament to his expertise and influence.
As Space Forge continues to make strides in the field of in-space manufacturing, it is clear that the company is on a path to revolutionise the tech industry. With Travis Scott at the helm, the future looks bright for this innovative company.
