Registering as a Private Practitioner in Kazakhstan Made Easy with eGov.kz
Registering as a private practitioner in Kazakhstan, such as a lawyer, mediator, or notary, has never been easier. With the introduction of the public service titled "Registration of a person engaged in private practice" on the eGov.kz portal, users can now complete their registration fully online without needing to visit government offices in person.
To get started, access the eGov.kz portal and select the relevant public service for private practice registration. The service, which has been available since August 1, 2025, requires users to fill out a digital application form with their personal and professional data.
An essential part of the process involves obtaining a digital signature (DS) key for submission and authentication of documents during the registration process. Since August 11, 2025, the procedure for obtaining digital signature keys has transitioned mostly to an online biometric identification system via facial recognition. In case biometric verification fails after five attempts, identification can be completed in person at a Citizen Service Center (CSC).
When it comes to fraud concerns, it is crucial to use only the official eGov.kz portal and the authorized National Certification Authority site (pki.gov.kz) for digital signature and registration services. Be cautious about phishing attempts or third-party websites claiming to provide registration services, as government services in Kazakhstan are centralized through eGov.kz.
Upon registration, users must provide specific details, such as the type of real estate and the license number and date of issue for the right to engage in legal, notarial, or enforcement activities. Users are also required to specify the reason for submitting the application and the type of registration.
The result of providing the service is either registration, removal from the registry, or a reasoned refusal. In case of removal from the registry, the information is posted on the KGD MF RK's website no later than the next working day.
Users can check the status of their application in the "Service History" section of their personal account after completing the service. Changes, including address changes, are also processed within one working day.
The processing time for the service is within 1 working day from the submission of the tax application through the eGov.kz portal. Notification of the application processing will be received within a specified time.
The state service for issuing permits for the management and social payments of wards is also available on the eGov Mobile application. For more information about this, please refer to our previous article on the topic[1].
In summary, registering as a private practitioner in Kazakhstan can be done fully online via eGov.kz by applying through the dedicated service and obtaining a digital signature with a biometric identification system. There are no known prevalent fraud issues reported with this official process, but users should remain vigilant and use only official channels[2][3].
