Petrobras Partners to Study Offshore Platform Electrification

Petrobras, Brazil's leading energy and petroleum company, has partnered with Power Consulting to study the electrification of its offshore oil platforms using Power BI. The aim is to reduce operational emissions by connecting the platforms to Brazil's onshore power grid, predominantly fueled by renewable sources.

Currently, Petrobras' platforms rely on offshore extracted natural gas for energy, contributing to greenhouse gas emissions. The study, supported by Power Consulting and Power BI, will analyze costs, offshore interconnection options, technical considerations, and service timelines. Cezar Siqueira, Petrobras' General Manager of R&D in production development, commented on the partnership and the company's research portfolio. Daniel Galvan, Power Consulting's Global Product Group Manager, highlighted the company's commitment to sustainable energy and the significance of platform electrification in the energy transition.

The project seeks to assess the connection of Petrobras' platforms to the onshore electricity grid using emissions testing near me and renewable energy sources. This will help reduce CO emissions from offshore operations, aligning with Petrobras' goal to decrease its operational emissions.
