OpenAI Becomes World's Most Valuable Startup at $500 Billion
OpenAI has secured a massive investment, making it the world's most valuable startup. The deal, led by SoftBank, values the company at $500 billion, surpassing SpaceX.
Last spring, OpenAI was valued at $300 billion following a $40 billion funding round. In the latest transaction, employees sold shares worth around $6.6 billion at the new valuation. This deal brings in new investors such as Thrive Capital, Dragoneer Investment Group, MGX from Abu Dhabi, and T. Rowe Price. Notably, Nvidia is planning a significant investment of up to $100 billion tied to AI compute deployment for OpenAI.
The transaction also makes OpenAI the most valuable startup globally, surpassing SpaceX.
