Ontario authorizes Soft2Bet to operate as a registered business
Soft2Bet Expands into Ontario, Canada's Largest Province
Soft2Bet, an online betting and gaming solutions provider, has made a significant move into North America by obtaining a Certificate of Registration from the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO). This certification allows the company to operate in Ontario, Canada's largest province.
The company is immensely excited about taking its first steps in North America. Soft2Bet's proprietary gamification engine MEGA has seen its first full-scale deployment through the ToonieBet brand in Ontario. This deployment has resulted in stronger player engagement, increased session frequency, and sustainable growth. The company has leveraged localized gamification features and partnerships with major local sports organizations like the Ottawa Senators and the Canadian Football League to enhance visibility and player loyalty.
Online casino activities have been the primary driver behind the growth in Ontario. In the fourth quarter of 2023, wagers in Ontario reached CA$17.2 billion, a 21% increase from previous periods. Gross gaming revenues in Ontario also increased to CA$658 million, a 22% rise, representing the highest revenue total in Ontario's wagering history.
Soft2Bet's aim is to continue its growth in the world's largest regulated markets. The company has already obtained B2C licenses in Italy, Greece, and Romania in 2023. Soft2Bet is moving closer to the launch of its iGaming brand, Tooniebet.com, and is looking forward to licensing and launching in more jurisdictions, not just in North America.
Martin Collins, the Chief Business Development Officer at Soft2Bet, views the Ontario certification as another significant and important step in their corporate expansion plans. The company's compliance and regulatory teams are working daily to enable the company's continued expansion in the world's largest regulated markets. Soft2Bet is actively working to obtain a license in New Jersey, aiming to continue its expansion in the Americas.
The success in Ontario fits perfectly with Soft2Bet's stated aim of growing its regulatory footprint. Elisabeth Isaksson, Head of Regulatory Compliance at Soft2Bet, has commented on the achievement, emphasizing the company's commitment to compliance and a localized product approach, which is critical for sustainable expansion in regulated North American markets.
Soft2Bet's ongoing nominations and awards in 2025 reflect its growing presence and innovation focus in the North American regulated gaming markets. The company's expansion plans include entering new markets beyond North America.
