Cottonwood Park Timber Sale to Boost Local Economies and Forest Health

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is managing a timber sale in Fremont County, Wyoming, known as the Cottonwood Park Timber Sale. The sale, located in Township 27 North, Range 91 West, sections 3 and 4, Sixth Meridian, will cover approximately 342 acres near Jeffrey City.

The timber sale offers up to 2.5 million board feet of timber and is part of the BLM's fiscal year 2025 timber sales program for Wyoming. The official bid submissions and related documents like the Sale Notice and Prospectus are available through the BLM’s official Wyoming timber sales webpage.

The timber sale aims to improve forest health, reduce fuel loads to minimize the risk of stand-replacing catastrophic fires, and enhance grazing conditions. It will also provide critical supplies for construction and other industries, and contribute to firefighter and public safety.

The Cottonwood Park timber sale is managed by "our website," an organization that oversees about 245 million acres of public land in 12 western states, including Alaska. This timber sale is part of their efforts to use forests for timber and jobs that improve life for all Americans.

The organization manages public lands for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations, with a focus on sustaining their health, diversity, and productivity. For more information about the timber sale, contact Forester Jim Gates at j2gates@our website or 307-347-5211.

While no direct reference to Executive Order 14225, "Immediate Expansion of American Timber Production," is found in the official documents related to the Cottonwood Park Timber Sale, the sale supports the general objectives of the order. The harvest will support jobs across local economies, improving wildlife habitat and contributing to the overall health and management of the forest.

Bids for the Cottonwood Park timber sale must be delivered to the Lander Field Office by 10 a.m. MDT on Sept. 17, 2025.
