Munich Airport Sets New Records in 2024 with Passenger and Cargo Growth

Munich Airport, operated by Munich Airport GmbH under the leadership of CEO Jost Lammers, experienced remarkable growth in 2024. The airport served a record number of passengers and destinations, expanding its reach and services.

In 2024, Munich Airport emerged as the fastest-growing airport in Germany, serving 224 destinations across 66 countries. This expansion was fueled by new routes, predominantly through enhanced rail connections. The airport express trains now offer direct services from Nürnberg to Munich Airport and Augsburg via Stuttgart and Frankfurt Airport, promoting passenger convenience and eco-friendly travel.

The airport also witnessed a significant increase in air cargo traffic, rising by 11% to over 308,000 tons. Long-haul traffic also grew by 17%, reflecting the airport's enhanced global connectivity. Overall, flight movements increased by 8% to over 327,000 takeoffs and landings.

Munich Airport welcomed 4.5 million more travelers in 2024, reaching a total of 41.6 million passengers. This growth was particularly notable in flights to European destinations and the Mediterranean region, which increased by 12%.
