The city of Mississauga, Ontario, has embarked on an exciting venture with the Lakeshore Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project. This significant investment in Mississauga's mobility future aims to create a multi-modal corridor, enhancing connectivity, supporting sustainable growth, and expanding waterfront access for all users, regardless of transportation mode.

The Lakeshore corridor will undergo engineering to support future development for potential redevelopment of Mississauga's waterfront. The redesigned street will feature center-running bus lanes, new cycle tracks, widened roadways, and accessible, weather-protected stations. Additionally, the area will be redesigned into a complete street, complete with new sidewalks.

Cristian Huma, Project Director at HDR Inc., expressed his excitement about the Lakeshore BRT project being a key part of Mississauga's ongoing investments in public transportation. HDR has been involved in the Lakeshore corridor for over ten years, and Huma's team has been at the forefront of planning and design work for this key transit infrastructure project. Their role in the project has expanded to include design, procurement of supplies, construction administration, and inspection services for a two-kilometer stretch of Lakeshore Road from East Avenue to Etobicoke Creek.

Mississauga Commissioner of Transportation and Works, Sam Rogers, stated that the city anticipates significant growth in the Lakeshore corridor, including the development of Lakeview Village. The city of Mississauga, in partnership with HDR Inc. and GEI Consultants, has chosen these firms for the design and contract administration of the Lakeshore BRT project.

The Lakeshore BRT project is a priority for the city of Mississauga. The city looks forward to continuing its work with HDR Inc. to advance the project, which is intended to make the waterfront area more accessible for all users and improve the community's public transportation capabilities. This investment in Mississauga's mobility future is a step towards creating a more connected and sustainable city.
